Using art to get students to think creatively and problem solve, as well as show skill and techniques, is what I do every day. In this project I use birch trees to help show depth (overlapping, size, and placement) and color to set the mood. I also like to show students how to use unusual objects to create with instead of "traditional" art tools. We'll use an old gift card to make the texture on the birch trees while using tempera paint, acrylic paint, pastels, and sharpies to create the project.
